Prof. Dr. Gamal Ramadan, former Head of the Zoology Department, has served as Professor of Molecular and Cellular Immunology at the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University (Cairo, Egypt) since 2012. He completed his D.Sc. (Dr. rer. nat.) in Molecular Immunology from Hannover University (Germany) and conducted postdoctoral studies in the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin (USA). Previously, he was a guest investigator at the Institute of Virology, Bremen University, Germany (1997–1999) and the Department of Clinical Immunology, Hannover Medical School, Germany (1999–2001). He also worked as an Assistant Professor in the Blood and Marrow Transplantation Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin (2003–2005) and as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia (2007–2012). Prof. Ramadan has published numerous papers in highly impacted journals and serves on the editorial boards and review panels of several reputed journals. His academic excellence has been recognized with multiple grants and awards, including the Research Paper Award in Basic Science (Wisconsin Cancer Center, 2004), the State Incentive Award in Immunology (Egyptian Government, 2006), and the Highly Cited Researcher Award (Top 1%, Thomson Reuters, 2016). Furthermore, he discovered 11 T-cell epitopes for Aspergillus fumigatus, which are recorded in the International Immune Epitope Database in La Jolla, CA, USA. He was also a member of the Faculty Promotion Committee (Zoology and Entomology) for the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities (2019–2025) and has been a member of the National Committee for Biological Sciences since 2019.
